The Canadian Pharmacy Associationon Wednesday reported on a major deal for the Canadian version of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.
The Canadian drug, which is sold by the CanadianPharmacy Association, is an experimental version of the little blue pill that was first approved in October.
“It is a good, very low dose and is relatively inexpensive,” said the association president, Stephen D. Evans.
“The drug has not been shown to improve erectile function, and it has been very well tolerated.”
The Viagra trade group, CanadianPharmacy, which represents some of the country’s top brands, said the deal is a positive step toward a more effective erectile dysfunction drug.
The agreement, made in the wake of the U. S. Food and Drug Administration approval of Viagra, gives the Canadian pharmacy association an extra $4.9 million in cash on the back of a $5 million bid to acquire the Canadian drug from Pfizer Inc.
The deal would allow Pfizer to sell the drug in the U. and Canada, which would be the first Canadian pharmacy to sell it.
Pfizer has been testing the drug on some of its Canadian competitors, including the U. brand and some Canadian generic drugs, as well as the American brand, and also has received final approval from the FDA to market the drug in the U. The deal would also allow Pfizer to sell the drug in Canada and sell the drug in other countries.
In the meantime, Pfizer and CanadianPharmacy have worked hard to secure the drug from the FDA and to sell the drug in the U.
“It’s a good, very low dose and relatively inexpensive,” Evans said. “It’s very much a great drug that’s been approved in the U. and Canada.”
He said he is happy with Pfizer’s decision to sell the drug.
“I’m very happy with the way they have acted,” Evans said. “They’ve made a decision that I can’t help but be excited about, and I don’t have any complaints about that.”
“We have a lot of confidence in our ability to make a good product for Canadians,” Evans said. “I want to be a good parent and have a happy family.”
Pfizer also is working on other pharmaceutical products to improve the drug’s effectiveness and safety, Evans said. “I am hopeful for the drugs that are in the pipeline.”
The Canadian pharmacist, Sarah L. Miller, is a board certified public health nurse and a former member of the Board of Pharmacy. She is also the director of clinical services for the CanadianPharmacy Association.
